Our massive wood kitchen prototype made in collaboration with @saarikitchen. The idea is a modular furniture system that is stackable in transport, made of solid wood panels and treated with natural wax. It’s a single frame structure to save material and it is easily assembled on site.
The manufacturing of solid wood panels like rimalevy and kimpilevy has unfortunately disappeared from Finland as chipboards and mdf have taken over. Now, as durability and recycling should be a norm, we’d like to see competitive, Finnish materials in the market. The boards could be made of leftover wood from other wood processing. Right now our local raw material is sold abroad and bought back as processed products at high prices. Who will restart solid wood panel manufacturing in Finland? We had it already back in 50’s. How about @kontio @cltplant @crosslam @hoisko @versowood etc ?

Finally green and finally ready! 🍾 This attic, almost hidden from view, is located in functionalist style Töölö. We designed and built two new apartments and a shared sauna. The sauna is very popular among the residents, perhaps a nice prize for being patient with us working over their heads for a while. Must say, that @runohotelporvoo does not pale in comparison with central european boutique hotel gems of Copenhagen - on the contrary, it’s exceptional even if we say so ourselves. As borders are starting to open and Franka’s old home town Cph has already celebrated “freedom day”, when Denmark lifted all coronavirus restrictions, we took a little trip to see friends and stayed at Villa Copenhagen and Coco hotel of which the latter was very lovely. But no need to go further than Porvoo to enjoy some European grandeur mingling easily with Scandinavian cool. These days many are daydreaming of the physical office. Here’s some pictures from an office renovation project we did a couple years back. The space is a top floor in the very center of the city. The interior concept took inspiration from the company’s fresh and positive brand @meltwaterfin and the challenge was to do it with minimal construction work and budget.
